Whirlwind Tour of My Mind (Current State)

Do you make lists? I do. Not because I'm an obsessive/compulsive type person (Zzzt. Shh.). I make lists 'cause it lets me set aside that thought and calm the whirlwind in my mind. So, here's a quick "list" of several things.

Oh, Yarn4Socks' Artist of the Month has such pretty colors! (Not that this takes from my *favorite* sock yarn supplier!) I'm being really good and "oohhing" and "ahhhing" over only three colors right now:

Black Rose

Desert Bloom

Storm Watch

*sigh* So pretty.

We're still looking at properties in Arizona, hoping for a piece of this beautiful landscape in which to build our dome home. I bought a notebook at Barnes and Noble (*sigh* I love notebooks!) that I'm planning on keeping all my notes and contacts in as we build our dream home.

I've got a new fibro doctor. Yay! He summed up my experience in two different ways. First was how he asked me to bring him up to speed on my fibro experience: "Where don't you hurt?". I'm sure many who know me would like to have see the mouth-is-open-catching-flies look of speechlessness as I tried to figure out the answer to that one! The second summary was a sentence: "So, basically, you've had no treatement for your fibro ever."

Yup. Pretty much. The concept of "treatment" has not entered my life experience thus far. Until this new doctor, whom I shall call "Dr. B". He's up in Charleston (a 2 hour drive!). Fibro is his "special interest"; he lectures on the topic.

Based on my weight and sleeping problems, he thinks I might have sleep apnea, so he's having me go in for a sleep study. Oh fun! He wants me to quit using the cane because it creates a pyschological reminder that I'm "disabled"---and he wants to aim to get me out of that completely. He believes that if we can get my sleep better regulated, so I'm getting a more restful sleep, then I'll be able to move my body more---you know, actual exercise!

I bought a yoga set at Barnes and Noble a week ago. I unpacked it...and haven't touched it yet. Shame on me. Dr. B wants me swimming, walking and bicycling. Ha. I wanted to laugh at him. The swimming pool in our subdivision might actually get to 6 feet in depth.

I want to do a search of in-home exercise machines and see if I can find something I like. The Gazelle (unfortunately "Tony Little's Gazelle") is really nice, but it takes up so much space. My mom let us borrow hers for a few months. I really liked it, but it's just too darn big! And I couldn't possibly store it and open it myself.

Horatio is settling in quite well. He comes to see me when he wakes up, so he can cuddle with me for a minute or two...and then he's OFF! His sniffer doesn't stop moving until the next time he collapses into sleep. Sometimes, he'll come up to me at my desk and curl up at my foot. I looked down yesterday and he was sound asleep, curled into a little circle. He was so deeply asleep, I was able to pick him up and put him on my chest, where he slept for another 45 minutes or more.

Randy's even more glad now that we got him. He feels like Horatio is helping to re-affirm that life does go on. And frankly, how can you not love having this cutie in the house? (Wouldn't that be a great place for a picture of the new baby I've been promising? I know.... Shame I haven't got one downloaded yet. *sigh*)

After reading about this fiasco by the Crit-herder of Critters, I discovered Ray Gun Revival and am looking at sending a story in to them soon.

I'm still listening to "Dark River" by John Twelve Hawks---I usually listen at night while I knit on a pair of socks, but I've not been doing as much knitting lately. I just finished David Weber and John Ringo's 4-book series on Prince Roger (March Upcountry, March to the Sea, March to the Stars, and We Few). That was a good series---I think Ringo keeps Weber's tendency to ramble ad nauseum to a minimum. I'm supposed to be reading the HALO books which Nick has been bugging me to read; I'm currently working my way through "The Flood". I also just buzzed through "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer---wow. That's number three in her Twilight series. Very good. I also just finished Kelley Armstrong's "Exit Strategy" which I was disappointed in---not because it was poorly written. I purchased it without even reading the blurb---admittedly, a dumb thing to do but I've loved ever single one of her books thus far and this one wasn't a paranormal or urban fantasy book.

And I think that's about the end of my ramblings tonight. I'm off to get in a game of StarCraft (can't wait 'til 2 comes out!) and maybe a little research on various random thoughts that pop up between now and then.
