August Reading log

Hey, I remembered this time! Here's the list of reading for August:

My tally so far for the year is 45 books and 19 audiobooks. I'm far short of even my conservative goal of 75 books and 25 audiobooks. I need to read at least 8 books a month to reach my "real" book minimum. But to reach my higher goal of 100 books by year's end, I need to read 14 books in all of the remaining months of the year! As for my audio goals, I can manage 6 more audiobooks in 4 months no problem.

It was those darn Diana Gabaldon books what did me in, you know. I couldn't stop listening to them. And I spent more time knitting lace and working sudoku than I should have. Wait. Did I just say I spent too much time knitting? That's just not right!

I think having a list to pull my next book to read from is helping too. I get the satisfaction of deleting a book from a list--kinda like checking off a task, yeah? When I walk to my bookshelves or bookcases, I'm overwhelmed with all the spines sticking out at me. Those I've read explode into my head at the sight of their titles and make me long to re-read them. But I'm actively trying to read the books I own I've never read (all the while buying even more books which I'm eager to read as well!).

On that note, perhaps it's time to go read another couple chapters of Engaging the Enemy by Elizabeth Moon!
